Download the VOLT app, create your account and link your card once through Wompi.

  2. 2

    Plug in the cable

Park in a VOLT bay, take the connector your car uses and push it in all the way.

One price

A kWh is the unit of energy, like the gallon for gasoline. You pay for what goes into your car.

See pricing in detail

$1,300 COP per kWh

You pay for the energy that goes into your car. No sign-up fee, no monthly fee and no session fee.

What a charge costs, by the kWh that go in
Energy charged Price (COP) Approx. range
20 kWh A short top-up while you run an errand $26,000 135 km
40 kWh Half the battery of a mid-size car $52,000 265 km
60 kWh A long charge, from nearly empty to full $78,000 400 km

A kWh is the unit of energy, like the gallon for gasoline. Range assumes 15 kWh per 100 km, what a compact car uses.

$52,000 about 265 km

Most compact cars have a 40 to 60 kWh battery.

  1. Grace period at the end

You have 15 minutes to unplug. After that, $1,500 per minute is billed while the bay stays occupied. It is not a fine: it frees the bay for the next driver.

  2. Parking at Palms Avenue

Parking belongs to the mall and is paid: the first 30 minutes are free, and purchases at Carulla get you 2 hours free. A fast charge takes 25 to 35 minutes.

  3. Demand-based pricing, once it exists

At off-peak hours a kWh may cost less. You will always see the price before you start.

Frequently asked questions

The ones we get asked most. The rest, and the myths, are on the FAQ page.

See all questions
Do I need an account to charge?
Yes. In the VOLT app you create your account and link your debit or credit card once, through Wompi. That lets you start any charge on the network, with no memberships or sign-up fees.
Can my car charge at VOLT?
Yes, if it has a CCS2, CCS1 or GB/T DC port: those are the network’s connectors. Most new cars in Colombia use CCS2; cars built for the North American market use CCS1, and some Chinese models (JAC, BAIC, Dongfeng) use GB/T. Open the charging flap and compare it with the three ports. If your car only has a Type 2 port, which is AC, it cannot use a fast charger.
How long does charging take?
It depends on your car’s battery and the power it accepts. On a 180 kW charger, a car that accepts that power goes from 20 % to 80 % in about 20 to 30 minutes; one that accepts 50 kW takes close to an hour for the same. The app shows progress in real time.
What do I do if the charger fails?
Message us on WhatsApp at +57 320 677 5686 with the charger number, which is on the front of the unit. Support is part of the service.
